It’s no secret that many of my inspirations come from the earlier eras. I am not only a fan of the fashion of these bygone eras, but the art and music as well (I have my grandparents to thank for this). While strolling through the west village section of NYC I decided to channel my inner 1970’s fashion bug. The 70’s being know for its high-waist garments, bright coloured textiles and clothing designs with embroidered details. Last but not least, we can not forget platform shoes!
Pinstripe overload in my Miu Miu resort 16′. If I could have a theme song playing as I strolled through the West village on this day, I would have to choose Manu Dibango – Soul Makossa . In my Miu Miu poplin skirt a mixture of a classic pencil silhouette with a flattering high waist, what some would call “being snatched” in a good way of course lol. My Miu Miu cropped metallic knit top was a prefect fit for showcasing the high waist detail of the skirt. I’m not sure what I love most about this top. The shimmering metallic yarns, or the bold yellow and black stripes.
I took a more nontraditional approach with my Alexander McQueen exaggerated sole metallic sneakers. Going for a sportier look while still keeping the 70’s platform in mind, these sneakers took the cake. Not to mention they were quite an eye catcher
